A dog truly meant to be someone's soul dog.
I was so excited to launch my Picture Me Adopted project for 2026 I ended up booking a dog early! Shocker. Real quick...this project is meant to help get dogs out of shelters and rescues who have been waiting a long time for their forever family. I will be photographing these hard-to-adopt rescue dogs for free to help show their personalities outside of the shelter environment and hopefully get them adopted!
What better way to kick off this project than with a dog who represents so many hard-to-adopt pups just because of the way he looks. Biggie is a black dog so that's strike one. Black dogs are some of the hardest to adopt out in shelters and rescues. Black dogs look more "intimidating" and more often than not, (like 99% of the time) they aren't! Strike two...he's a Pit mix. Again, very hard breed to adopt out due to the Pitbull stigma.
The first thing I noticed about Biggie when he first walked into the studio for his session (keep in mind, I'm looking at him from a dog training standpoint as well) was how well-mannered and calm he was. He was confident and affectionate from the get-go! At a whopping 80 pounds, it's a breath of fresh air for the average dog owner to know he won't be jumping on you or taking your knees out! Biggie was an absolute sweetheart and so easy to work with! I really was stunned for the entire session that no one had given this boy a chance. The icing on the cake for me? I put Biggie on a slip-line leash for part of his session and realized how absolutely INCREDIBLE he is walking on the leash! He really is the whole package for someone who wants a companion out of a dog. He is truly meant to be someone's soul dog.
Biggie is 3 years old and 2 of those years he has been with Bark About It Rescue watching other dogs walk out with their forever family. His only flaw? He is dog-selective. Here's the thing about that...as humans...we don't like every person we meet. So, why should dogs be any different? I'm not holding that against him. He's a very playful and loving dog. Biggie is also very smart and already knows your standard commands (including place) to make your life easy. And yes, he has the potential to learn more! He is just a loyal dog content with being at your feet or next to you on the couch for your Netflix binge.
I encourage you to share Biggie's story far and wide! He really does deserve a loving family and in my opinion has already waited entirely too long. You never know who you know that might be looking for the love of handsome dog! Maybe you're reading this and thinking...that dog is totally my soul mate...I've got you covered. Just send Bark About It Rescue a message and tell them you can't live another day without Biggie by your side!
Biggie...I loved every second with you! You are truly a hidden gem in the rescue world and I wish you the very best! Your rescue has done wonderful with you and I hope that special person comes forward soon because you deserve to be someone's world! I can't wait to see the update that you found your forever home my boy! Here's to you!
